At the Dallas Carmilla hotel, while Lorena is feeding on telepath Barry, Bill uses the opportunity to incapacitate her and escape. He busts in on Jessica and Hoyt and orders them back to Bon Temps.
Eggs arrives at Merlotte’s in distress looking for Tara – he’s experienced memory loss again. Sam is woken in his car by a call from Merlotte’s; heading over there he finds Daphne dead with her heart torn out. Before he can act, the police arrive at Merlotte’s. At Sookie’s house, Maryann prepares a meal of a human heart. Eric, lying bound by silver, lays on an altar, but Bill and Jason appear to save the day. Steve attempts to take Sookie hostage, but Jason shoots the weapon out of his hand. Jason reveals to Steve that he had sex with Sarah, and knocks him down with a hit. At Godric’s nest, Godric thanks Jason, and Eric pardons his previous use of V. Meanwhile, Sookie is trying to find out why Bill did not come to her rescue when he first knew she was in trouble. Back in Bon Temps, Jessica and Hoyt make love again, but they realize that Jessica’s hymen has healed, and that she will remain a virgin forever. Back at the Dallas nest, Bill demands Eric leave Sookie alone from now on, and the human Hugo, Isabel’s lover is presented as the traitor to Godric. Finding that Isabel still loves Hugo, Godric spares his life and exiles him from Dallas.
Sam sits in jail, and finds out that half the town has been arrested for various types of indecent behavior. In Dallas Jason takes the opportunity to apologize to Bill for his previous bigotry towards him. Privately, Godric shares his dismay with Eric at the cruel, brutish character of the vampire race, and wishes for a world that humans and vampires might share equally. Back at Sookie’s house, after gorging themselves on the heart, Eggs and Tara suddenly turn violent, first smacking then hitting each other harder and harder until they fly into an animal passion.
In Dallas an unidentified figure approaches Godric’s nest. Lorena appears at the nest also, and harasses Sookie, who discovers it was Lorena that kept Bill from saving her. Lorena turns violent, but Godric stops her from harming Sookie. He makes a speech in which he uses Lorena as an example of the kind of vampire who has no future in this new world. Godric orders Bill to take Lorena from the nest; outside, Lorena pleads her love to Bill, who rejects her. At the party, a mysterious intruder is revealed to be Luke, who calls for the attention of those gathered and opens his jacket to reveal a suicide bomb wrapped in silver chains. He pushes the detonator.
Andy chases the pig through the woods and stumbles upon Maryann’s orgy. He fires his pistol, partially breaking the trance Maryann has induced on everyone, giving Sam the opportunity to run. Maryann gives chase, but Sam, hearing and then seeing an owl, is able to shape-shift into an owl himself and fly away. Andy breaks up the orgy and has his arm broken by Terry, who is still under Maryann’s influence.
In the basement of the L.O.D.I, Sookie deduces that someone must have tipped off the Fellowship about their mission, while at the hotel, Lorena will still not allow Bill to go to Sookie’s rescue and flashbacks of Los Angeles in 1935 reveal how Bill struggles with his relationship with Lorena. Tired of killing innocents, Bill asks to be released from her, even though she tries to convince him that he can overcome his conscience. She reluctantly releases him after he threatens to stake himself. Outside the church, Eric and Isabel are watching, unaware of the danger Sookie and Hugo are in. Eric asks her what she likes about being with a human and she says it is because their mortality makes everything in life urgent and exciting, but also says it is a sort of “science experiment” to see Hugo age into decrepitude. Isabel accuses Eric of coveting Sookie but he denies being interested in her. In the church, Sarah wants to run off and tell Steve about her and Jason, but Jason convinces her that their duty to God must come first and she agrees to wait. Hoyt tells Jessica that he is a virgin and she reveals that she is too. They decide to be each other’s first time. Eric and Isabel arrive back at the hotel and Stan confronts Eric about not dealing with the Fellowship more directly. Eric accuses him of murdering Godric to claim his place as Sheriff, which he denies and then Eric says he no longer cares if Stan runs into the church to kill them all. Steve and Gabe interrogate Sookie. A claustrophobic Hugo desperately reveals that her last name is Stackhouse and that she is Jason’s sister. Deciding that Jason must be a vampire sympathizer, he tells Gabe to take care of it and Gabe drags Jason into the woods to kill him, but he manages to escape after beating Gabe up. Later Sookie reads a weakend Hugo’s mind and it turns out that Hugo is the traitor. His motive is that he realizes Isabel is just using him and vampires takes over a mortal’s life in the name of loving them. Sam confronts Daphne at gunpoint at the stream and she explains to him that Maryann is a Maenad, an immortal creature from ancient Greek religion that is a female follower of Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and revelry. They have immense power and Daphne likens her to both God and the Satan. Sam asks why Maryann is trying to kill him and Daphne tells him it is because he escaped from her once and that she cannot influence supernatural creatures the way she can with normal people.
The next morning, Tara and Eggs wake up on Sookie’s couch and neither can remember what happened to them after they followed the trail of clothes. Arlene admits that she blacked out too, which causes Tara to become suspicious of Maryann. Andy tries to confronts Terry at Merlotte’s (but he isn’t there), raving about “devil-worshipers” and “devil-zombies” who turned Bon Temps into an “orgy from hell”, but the patrons just think he is crazy, however Sam knows he is telling the truth. At the stream, Maryann thanks Daphne for her services, kisses her and then uses an entranced Eggs to kill Daphne.
Sookie reaches out to Barry telepathically and he shows up at the hotel with the message, but Lorena still won’t let Bill leave. Eric overhears and races for the church. Gabe bursts into the basement, beats up Hugo because he is a “fang banger” despite him helping the church and attempts to rape Sookie, but at the last second he is pulled off by none other than Godric.
HBO has released a drink which is identical looking to the one in the show!
Here’s what they have to say about the drink:
“* Meticulously crafted, the Tru Blood Drink is an exact replica of the bottle design as seen on True Blood. The 14oz glass Tru Blood bottle is stained in a rich red, with raised Tru Blood English lettering and matching Japanese Kanji.
* This blood orange flavored soda is slightly tart, lightly sweet and subtly carbonated. Designed to taste great while matching the appearance of Bill’s favorite drink, the drink pours like a regular soda, but with the standing appearance in a glass is stormy and mysterious.”
The price is listed as $96.00 for a 24-pack, or $16 for a 4-pack. Only available through the HBO store!
