Sheriff Bud Dearborne is well mannered and well respected in the town of Bon Temps. He has always done what ever he can to help out the community. Things were always peaceful in Bon Temps until the vampires arrived. Now Bud just can figure out what every ones fascination with vampires is but he still pledges to keep the town safe.

Jessica Hamby is a teenager in Bon Temps who was recently turned into a vampire by Bill. Bill was forced to turn her because of killing one of his own fellow vampires. Now that he is eternally plagued by Jessica’s annoying teen habits it has spurred a different kind of regret. With the strict up bringing that Jessica has had she makes her newfound vampire life a form of freedom and makes sure her growing pains are evident to everyone in Bon Temps.

Maryanne Forrester also known as maenads (a female mythological character who is a follower of Dionysus [the god of wine] these mythological characters feed off lust, chaos and violence.) is a mysterious social worker in the town of Bon Temps. She appears to have good intentions and is a pleasant when she receives her “tributes / offerings” from alcoholic sources. Maryanne has a strange effect on people however causing sudden violence outbursts or lustful cravings. She is yet to be reviled for what she truly is.

Sookie’s telepathic capabilities had been apparent from the beginning, even though she did her best to conceal her powers from everyone.  Her parents died when she was 7, leaving her, and her brother Jason, to live with their grandmother. Sookie had finally found some peace and quite in her life after her parents had died and found a job waitressing at Sam Malotte’s bar. Every thing changed the night that Bill Compton walked in. Sookie found herself falling in love with this strange and mysterious vampire. As time passed Sookie discovered many terrifying and thrilling things, but what terrified her most was that she wasn’t as scared as she thought she should be.

Lafayette Reynolds is very flamboyant character, who never leaves his house with out his  best outfit and eye makeup on. Always looking for a good deal and way to make money. Lafayette finds him self as a line cook a Sam Merlotte’s bar. When Sam’s customers get on Lafayette’s bad side, he’s not afraid to throw down all his cards and show them what he’s got. With plenty of deals going down on the sidelines he’s is always to keep busy and making money one way or another .

Tara Thornton

Throughout the years Tara Thornton has built up a tuff exterior. Taking care of her alcoholic mother has caused her to have a short temper and relationship problems. Being hard to employ Tara was lucky to find a job at Sam’s bar the Merlotte, keeping customers inline with her short fuse. Although Tara does have a soft side. She has been Sookies best friend for years and has always had a spot in her heart for Sookie and her brother Jason.

Jason Stackhouse is a confused young man. Known as being Sookies handsome older brother and a well-respected road crew supervisor, until the day he was accused of murdering four women. The two well-known “fang-bangers,” of Bon Temp, Dawn Green and Maudette Pickens, his grandmother and the ”V” addict, Amy Hurley. Only avoiding jail time after his best friend at the time was reviled to be the killer. After going through such hard times Jason contemplates joining a cult church that believes vampires should all burn in Hell.

Sam Merlotte is a local bar owner in Bon Temps. Every one knows his as an easygoing nice guy. Sam has become jalousie of Sookie and Bill’s relationship. He has admired Sookie since the first day she walked into his bar looking for a job. He finds him self in the arms of Tara Thornton to console his loneliness. Sam isn’t who everyone thinks he is. He has a secret that he hasn’t told anybody in a long time. He is a shape shifter living among humans.

With dealing with constant problems between the two of them and warding of troublesome vampires he is finding it tempting not to return back to his old ways of shadow lurking.
