Bill Compton returns Sookie’s favor of the previous episode (saving him from the vampire drainers) by rescuing her from them when they try to seek their revenge. After murdering the two vampire drainers, compton heals Sookie’s wounds by giving her his blood to drink.  In edition to healing her wounds, Sookie is left with hightened senses (another perk of drinking vampires blood). Sookie invites Compton to her house to meet her grandmother and he accepts. When Compton shows up at Sookie’s house, her friend Tara and her brother Jason are also there. Sookie’s grandmother ends up being quite fond of Compton, but Tara is weary of her best friend possible seeing a vampire, and her brother Jason is absolutely against having a Vampire in the house (there is a constant debate throught the series on whether or not vampires should be allowed to live amongst society).  After a small visit, Sookie and Compton take off for a walk in the night, and reach the house where he is staying (the house turns out to be just across the way from Sookie’s). Sookie and Bill have their first kiss here and Bill fights off his vampire earges (wanting to suck Sookie’s blood). Sookie immediately leaves after the kiss, but her desires for Compton over power her and she returns to his house  get the better of her as she returns to Bill’s, where she is greeted by as group of his bloodthirsty vampire friends.

Also in this episode:  Jason is aquitted for murdering the fang-banger and Tara must deal with her mothers alcoholism. This episode also introduces us to a new religous group that threatens the vampires.
