In this episode Sookie becomes angry with Compton because of how he handled their previous encounter with the law, and she explains to him that she no longer feels safe with him. Bill tells Sookie he will no longer call on her. Tara becomes enraged at Lafayette for selling vampire blood, and resents the fact that he sold a vile of it to Jason. Lafayette explains to Jason how Tara has had a crush on him for years, and Jason is surprisd to hear it. Compton ends up speaking at Sookie’s grandmothers church to a group of civil war descendants, where he is presented with a picture of the mayor and his family. When Bill receives the picture he is struken with sadness, and begins to cry. Jason decides to once again take “V” (Vampire Blood) and trys to confess his love for Tara. When she reaslizes he is high on the vampire blood she tells him to come talk to her when he is sober. Sam kisses Sookie and Sookie rejects him. She decided to take a cab home, when she arrives she finds her grandmother laying on the floor covered in blood.
Spurned by an exasperated Sookie, Bill ends up winning over Adele’s church audience with his vivid recollections from the Civil War, though Andy and Bud remain suspicious. Sam tries to make the most of his opportunity with Sookie, though she’s clearly not ready to commit. Ignoring Tara’s rebuff, Lafayette convinces Jason to give vampire blood, a.k.a. “V juice,” another shot. Alone at home, Bill remembers the painful wartime incident that changed his fate forever.
